Dearest reader,
Welcome to the Calyx Hope Network. Somehow you have found this space today; ideally well, brimming with light, and surrounded by magic. If these are not the circumstances in which you’ve found this place, then I ask you to stay awhile, and hope that those may be the circumstances in which you leave. I’ll brew a pot of literary tea, pull out a few good books, and stoke the fire of your imagination. I’ll ask you to dream of a better world and to share that dream so we may forge that world together. I’ll ask you to hope.
I have always been led by stories, which perhaps is why I feel the need to create a space with them at its heart. Throughout my life, books have been a saving grace, a best friend, a balancing agent in an uneven world. I have written, and still do, to better know my own heart, and my hunger for tales will never be satiated. I am something of a literary vacuum.
For me, the cyclical beauty of this world merits undefinable awe. The golden light in autumn is my taproot, and nothing grounds me more than the knowledge that time will come and go, as will seasons, and will all that happens in them. These cycles remind me to trust the world, as it is full of knowing. They remind me to trust in my own knowing, as I too am a creature of this world, much as modernity would have humanity believe otherwise. Beyond all, they remind me to love this place called Earth, to drink in every drop of my experience here, and to do what I can to ensure the children of this mother know her magic for years to come.
This is the magic I hope to share with each reader of Calyx. Here you will find seasonal and botanical literature, ritual, and recipe. It’s my dearest intention to introduce you to some of my closest friends, the plants, and to encourage a relationship with our more-than-human worldmates.
When we remember we are but one, it’s simple to take care of each other.
