Issue 3
Season: Winter
Plant: Hawthorn
Themes: winter, rest and hibernation, shadow, matters of the heart, protection
Our themes for each month are determined by the physical and spiritual attributes of our chosen plant, as well as the current season.
Send us your most whimsical, lyrical writing. We enjoy botanical and fantastical stories and poetry, and encourage you to submit pieces on the theme of the issue (although we may make some exceptions if your piece is exceptional). We also publish seasonal photography pertaining to the issue’s theme. Send us what you think we will publish, and please be sure to read the guidelines thoroughly.
P.S. If you found us through a submission website, please report our response time. Thank you.
Submission Guidelines
- We do not accept any work created, edited, or affected by AI in any way.
- We ask for non-exclusive archival and reprint rights. The author retains all copyright.
- We are sorry that we cannot pay our contributors at this time, as we are just starting out as a publication. We will begin paying for your work as soon as possible, and we thank you for submitting and encourage you to spread the word. The more subscriber we have, the sooner we can pay.
- We accept simultaneous submissions, but ask that you message us through Subfolio when you wish to withdraw a piece from submission.
- We especially enjoy when pieces are written in a highly lyrical style. If this is poetry, a somewhat traditional style (rhyming, verse, etc).
